Calorie calculator (BMR and TDEE)
BMR is the energy your body needs at rest. TDEE adds the movement of your day and is a starting point for planning your diet. It is an estimate, not a measurement.

How we calculate it
Mifflin-St Jeor formula (1990): BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) − 5 × age (years) + 5 (men) or − 161 (women). TDEE = BMR × activity factor.
The −15% and +10% values are typical starting points, not recommendations. The rate of body weight change still has to be checked with measurements over several weeks.
Limitations
- In some people the formula differs from a measurement by more than 10%. It does not account for body composition: high muscle mass increases energy expenditure.
- Activity factors are approximations, and people often overestimate their activity.
- The result does not apply to pregnancy, breastfeeding, children or conditions that affect metabolism. If you have a medical condition or take medication, discuss a weight-loss diet with a doctor or dietitian.
