The resinous polypore (Ischnoderma resinosum) is a bracket fungus that forms large, semicircular, tongue-shaped fruiting bodies, velvety to the touch, with a sweetish, resinous smell. It develops as a saprotroph on dead hardwood, most often beech. In Poland it's a rare species, listed on the Red List.

The only published chemical study isolated a heteropolysaccharide from the fruiting bodies that, in chemical tests, effectively neutralized free radicals and protected erythrocytes and human HepG2 liver cells from oxidative stress in vitro.
It's worth noting that the described effect concerns a single, isolated fraction — the heteropolysaccharide — not the whole fruiting body or a simple infusion that could be prepared at home. The tests covered protection of erythrocytes and the human HepG2 liver cell line from oxidative stress under cell-culture conditions — a preclinical model, not proof of effect in a living organism.
